To bolster ViTrox’s global competitiveness and advance research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (“STEM”), we are dedicated to fostering forward-looking partnerships with academic institutions while prioritising the nurturing of young talent.
Over the years, ViTrox has established enduring partnerships between industry and academia with esteemed universities. We have provided diverse industrial learning opportunities aimed at merging theoretical learning with practical on-the-job experience. These collaborative programmes are designed to equip students for their forthcoming careers.
Future talent development programmes
ViTrox has collaborated with the Career Development & Graduate Employability Centre of Universiti Utara Malaysia (“UUM”) for the ViTrox Padawan programme, where our internal subject experts will train UUM students with industry-specific skills. The Padawan programme was initiated in December 2020 to foster academia-industry linkage and reinforce the students’ existing academic knowledge. This made students more industry-ready through practical hands-on training and work-based industry learning exposure.
In 2023, we launched the 12-month programme for the third cohort with a total of 26 students from business and computer schools. Throughout their journey, participants are exposed to various modules, including but not limited to Introduction to V-ONE, Effective Presentation, Occupational Safety & Health In The Workplace, Resume Writing Workshop, Introduction to Environmental, Social and Governance and more. In 2024, there were 2 outstanding students being offered internship opportunities.
Machine vision classes
We promote the knowledge of machine vision to students, hoping to plant the seed of interest in this topic within the next generation. In 2023, ViTrox conducted 8 virtual machine vision classes at University of Nottingham Malaysia (“UoNM”), Universiti Putra Malaysia (“UPM”), Xiamen University Malaysia (“XMUM”), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (“UMP”), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (“UTP”), Monash University Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia (“USM”) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (“UNIMAS”).
Academic projects
ViTrox has continuously worked with institutions of higher learning for industrial projects. The collaborations provide a platform to strengthen the connection between what students learn in school and the actual situation in the workplace.
ViTrox has been involved in 7 projects with students from USM, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (“UTM”), Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (“APU”) and Forward School.
Work-based Learning (“WBL”)
To cultivate more industry-ready talents, ViTrox has collaborated with UTAR, Forward School, ViTrox Academy and ViTrox College for the WBL programme. WBL provides students with real-life work experience where they can apply academic and technical skills to work, thereby improving their practical skills for future career advancement. ViTrox has dedicated engineering human resources as industry coaches during the period of WBL to ensure students learn industry skills. WBL is part of the curriculum of university programmes.
ViTrox Prestigious Award
To attract local outstanding talents, we launched the ViTrox Prestigious Award, exclusively for UTAR, to encourage undergraduate students in STEM, Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”) and Computer Science programmes to join ViTrox upon graduation.
University student club programmes
To enhance the exposure of university students to STEM fields, we supported university student club programmes, including sponsorships to Robocon clubs in various local universities and IoT kits sponsorship to the School of Computer Sciences in USM.
ViTrox Scholarships
In 2023, ViTrox Foundation supported 7 students from ViTrox College and 1 student from Wawasan Open University (“WOU”) in their studies.
